What this site is
BackyardStack is an independent guide and directory for homeowners planning an ADU or backyard home. It is run by Root 7 LLC.
How it works
- Editorial first. Guides are written to answer what homeowners ask before they call a builder. Each one says when it was last updated.
- Sourced. Costs, rents and rules link to where they came from, such as a state housing agency, a city program or a published survey. If we could not find a source, we leave the number out.
- No paid rankings. The order of builders in the directory is editorial. Nobody can pay to move up.
- Sponsors are labeled. Paid placements are always marked as paid and kept separate from the editorial lists.
- How quote requests work. When you ask for quotes, your request comes to our inbox and you get a confirmation email. Then we connect you with builders from this directory who serve your area. We do not sell your details.
- Corrections welcome. If something is wrong or out of date, email hello@backyardstack.com and we will check it against the source.
